In Freedom Founders, we talk about a financial metric called your “Freedom Number.”
This is your monthly passive cashflow, before tax, that can support your overhead lifestyle.
If your investments produce enough passive cashflow to cover your lifestyle without you having to go to work, you’ve achieved true financial freedom.
Why is it important to have a freedom number?
If you don’t have a specific number in mind, how will you know when you’ve built your investment portfolio enough to get there?
The problem with most traditional financial planning constructs is that they have no clue what kind of cashflow any asset will provide on a regular monthly basis.
They advise you to accumulate the biggest pile of assets you can, put it in the stock market, and hope for the best.
But then when you reach retirement age, they tell you to take it all out because “the stock market’s not reliable.”
That doesn’t make sense, does it?
Figure out what kind of capital assets you want to invest in – real businesses or Real Estate.
Then figure out what your freedom number is and work backwards.
The lower your freedom number is – the quicker you’ll reach it.
If you invest in the right assets, that number will not stay static – it will actually go up.
Working backward from your freedom number will help you get on the fast track to achieving true freedom.
