People often ask me how I get any work done when I am always traveling.
It wasn’t always like this for me.
I got started on the treadmill – just like most of you – getting educated, licensed, and then going into private practice.
When I had my practice, I did not have the freedom that I wanted in my life.
Many people get stuck trading time for dollars, even good dollars, but it does not provide freedom.
It’s work, work, work and then squeezing in a short vacation here and there.
But even that’s hard to do with all the work that piles up.
In order to change my life, I had to be intentional about how I wanted my life to be served by my business.
I had to change the way I thought, starting with the idea that all my work had to be done by me.
I had to think more about how I could change my business to fit my lifestyle.
The great thing about today is that we have technology and the internet, which means we can be connected no matter where we are in the world.
I decided that I needed a business that would not require me to be in one location to trade time for dollars.
For me, it wasn’t about saving a lot of money – I was able to transition out of dentistry because I invested in other capital assets, namely, real estate.
Real estate works, and it has allowed me to have predictable, sustainable cash flow.
And the key to freedom is having cash flow on your terms, so you can have the time to live your life.
Now I have a team that takes what I do and leverages it out.
My income hasn’t stopped. I can travel and stay connected and still have predictable, sustainable cash flow – and not come back to a mess at the office.
Challenge yourself and think in a different way.
If you don’t think it’s possible, then it isn’t.
You have to decide that you want to make a change in your life and that you will do what it takes to get there.
The best thing that you can do is surround yourself with people who have already done it, and that have the mindset that it can be done.
If you try and do it solo, you will get stumped.
Change your mindset and surround yourself with people that are already on the right path.
Set your sights on a vision and a life that you want, and you can achieve it.
If you think that it can’t be done…then you’re right.
To your freedom,
– David
