hat is wealth? I believe it’s the basis of what sets us free.
Wealth isn’t everything, but having enough capital and assets producing enough income so that you don’t have to work is the first level of freedom.
However, obtaining that freedom doesn’t mean you retire and stop being relevant. The doors are opened so you can iterate into the next position in life to grow your spirit and impact in the world.
We all start out trading time for dollars with our education and skillsets. But staying on that hamster wheel chasing the dollar for 35-40 years burns us out, and we lose our passion for life. Even for high-income-earning individuals, as long as your income is dependent on you trading time for dollars, you’re never free.
That’s why it’s so important to learn how to not only create income, which is the first step, but then to save and invest that money appropriately, and finally: to make the money that you worked hard for then work hard for you.
That’s where most people make a poor decision. Most people abdicate the responsibility for orchestrating their financial future to other platforms like Wall Street, financial advisors, money managers, and 401(k)s. It’s what I call the business of your money.
That loss of control is a huge loss of opportunity. Why don’t people do more with their money? You’re told you’re not smart enough, that it’s not something you should be doing because you’re a professional and you’ve got your own skillset, so don’t go outside your lane – just give your money to an advisor to take care of.
Well, time and time again, that doesn’t work. To create a real freedom lifestyle, you’ve got to learn how to get your capital working.
