We are all our biggest obstacles. Why is this?
We all come from environments where we had preset conditions and beliefs placed upon us.
The people we learned from had a way of thinking passed down to them, and they in turn passed that way of thinking down to us.
But a lot of those mindsets and beliefs are not based in reality anymore, and can actually hold people back.
For instance, do you need a great education to do well in life? Sure – if you want to be a scientist, doctor, or lawyer.
But there are many entrepreneurs out in the world today doing very well, who don’t have anything past a high school education.
Another mindset we learn is that we have to trade time for dollars.
That’s a great start, but the problem is we’re limited by the time we have.
At some point, we want to get off the hamster wheel. And to do that, we need businesses or assets that can provide cash flow when we’re not working.
It’s not difficult – but it’s not easy.
The easy part comes after you’ve found the right people, who have gone before you and blazed the trail.
Surrounding yourself with the right people is so important, it’s one of the primary reasons I travel the world today.
The people I meet can help me think in new ways, approach problems from different perspectives, and reveal my blind spots.
When you change your environment, and the people you surround yourself with – it will change the way you think.
You will learn to better leverage your existing assets, such as your skills and your finances.
You will begin to think about your most important asset – time – in a brand new light.
And when you change the way you think, you will change what you do – both now, and for the rest of your life.
